Becoming an Honors Student

In order to become a member of the Heltzer Honors Program students must apply and be admitted into the program. Students can apply to the Heltzer Honors Program through First Connections once they have an application to the university on file. Details about the admissions process can be found under Admissions on this website. Students who are admitted should sign up for at least one Honors course their first semester, although this is not requirement. Honors courses in the lower division are designed to fulfill General Education core curriculum requirements. Starting Fall 2010, all incoming freshmen Honors students are automatically assigned a room in East Hall. Any student who does not want to live in East Hall must contact the Heltzer Honors Program in writing at honors@appstate.edu.
