CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIPS & OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS

Chancellor's Scholarships

The University offers a variety of competitive scholarships. Some of these -- the most prestigious -- are tied to Honors at Appalachian. Each year approximately 10-15 incoming students are selected for Chancellor's Scholarships that cover full institutional costs-including tuition, fees, standard housing and meal plan. A selection committee evaluates applications on the basis of the scholarship application, which requires information on academic performance and aptitude and a thoughtful student essay. Successful applicants display a background of superior academic ability and active, involved learning. Applications are due in late November; see the Admissions website for the application deadline and instructions. Finalists will be asked for an on-campus interview during Scholars Weekend in February.

Chancellor and student

Recipients are required to enroll in at least one Honors course each semester for their first two years. Chancellor's Scholarships are renewable for up to four years if the student maintains a 3.4 academic average.  Chancellor's scholarships are not tied to any major or college, and may their award to pursue approved off-campus programs of study, offered through such agencies as Appalachian's International Programs office.
